PillowProof Laptops!

Working and playing on your laptop or notebook computer in bed or on the couch is great -- except when the darn thing overheats because the pillow/blankets/sheets are covering the fan vent. Intel this week revealed they've come up with a "pillow-proof" technology to eliminate that 10°C difference in temperature that occurs when a laptop is placed on a bed or blanket as opposed to a desk. Vitamin B Tablets Fight Off Alzheimer's Disease

A 2-year clinical trial, the largest ever of its kind, shows that Vitamin B Tablets taken daily can help senior citizens avoid dementia and Alzheimer's disease. The B Tablets reduce the rate of brain shrinkage by an impressive 50%, say researchers at Oxford University, England, in an article published in Plos One (Public Library of Science One), a leading medical journal.
The research focused on the effect of B vitamins on "mild cognitive impairment" (MCI). People with MCI have a higher risk of progression to Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia. While they can perform everyday activities, they may have problems with memory, such as recalling people's names, losing the flow of a conversation, and not remembering where they left things. Some 16% of people over 70 are affected by mild cognitive impairment, according to the researchers.

David Smith, University Department of Pharmacology and Department of Physiology, Anatomy & Genetics, University of Oxford, trial co-leader, said: "This is a very dramatic and striking result. It's much more than we could have predicted."

NSAID Cream & Spray (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug)

Europeans have long been able to buy nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, or Nsaids (pronounced EN-seds), in creams and sprays to ease muscle and joint pain. In the U.S, the first topical Nsaid was approved 3 years ago. A new analysis of studies on the use of topical Nsaids for acute injuries like sprains and strains show that topical Nsaids are as effective as pills in treating osteoarthritis in the knee and hand as well as musculoskeletal injuries like soreness and tendinitis. The advantage of Nsaid skin cream is that it bypasses the stomach and much of the bloodstream, minimizing side effects.

Nsaid cream and Nsaid spray deliver very high joint concentrations of the topical Nsaid, higher than with standard oral doses, with very low, and therefore very safe, blood levels. Patients taking Nsaid pills have a much higher rate of indigestion, diarrhea, abdominal pain, abnormal liver tests and anemia than those using the cream.
