Walgreens, the largest U.S. drugstore chain, was going to sell DNA testing kits this month, but the FDA called the kits into question and Walgreens dropped their plans... for now. The saliva test kits are made by Pathway Genomics. They'll tell when someone is at high-risk to get chronic diseases, including Alzheimer's, cystic fibrosis and Tay-Sachs disease. The test will identify people who carry the genes for such diseases, which they could pass along to their children, even if they don't suffer from the diseases themselves.
