FDA to Approve 5 Day Pill "ellaOne" for Contraception

An FDA advisory panel voted unanimously Thursday for agency approval of ellaOne, a medicine that could help prevent pregnancy if taken as late as 5 days after unprotected sex. The 5 day pill appears to be more effective than Plan B, a morning-after pill now available without prescription to women 18 and older that gradually loses efficacy after intercourse and can be taken at latest three days after sex. ellaOne, by contrast, works just as well on the fifth day as the first after sex. I am selling the valuable marketing domains 5daypill.com and elaOne.com. Asking $10,000 for 5daypill.com and $20,000 for elaOne.com, but all offers welcome. Stop Lung Cancer with Vitamin B6

New research shows that people with high levels of vitamin B6 are less likely to develop lung cancer than those with low concentrations. Reporting in the June 16 Journal of the American Medical Association, Paul Brennan of the International Agency for Research on Cancer and an international team of researchers calculated that people with vitamin B6 levels ranking in the top one-fourth of all the samples taken had less than half the risk of lung cancer as those with the lowest vitamin B6.

Sunscreen Causes Cancer? Maybe, Says U.S. Senator

Does sunscreen cause skin cancer? That would be a shocker, but apparently the U.S. FDA is looking at evidence that a common sunscreen ingredient, retinyl palmitate, causes the killer disease. U.S. Senator Charles Schumer is asking the agency make public the information it has. "Summer is here, people are soaking up the sun and the FDA needs to immediately provide guidance and reassurance to consumers," he said.

Studies by the FDA's National Center for Toxicological Research and the National Toxicology Program suggest there may be a connection between skin cancer and retinyl palmitate, which is used in 100s of the most popular sunscreens. Schumer wants the facts made public, and he wants new federal regulations to block use of the additive if, in fact, it’s a cancer agent.

40% of U.S. Teens Having Sex, Government Says

More than 40% of unmarried U.S. teenagers have had sex at least once, a new government report shows. This continues a flattening trend seen since 2002 and caps a downward trend seen between 1995 and 2002, especially in males, said researcher Joyce Abma. The report was issued Wednesday by the U.S. National Center for Health Statistics. "One of the great success stories of the past two decades has been the extraordinary declines in teen pregnancy and childbearing," said Bill Albert, chief program officer at the National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy. "This progress has recently stalled out."
